New Delhi, July 21 : India's External Affairs minister SM Krishna on Wednesday termed Pakistan Foreign minister SM Qureshi's comparison of India's Home Secretary GK Pillai with LeT leader Hafiz Saeed as 'ridiculous'.

Krishna, however, also hinted that he was not too happy with Pillai's remark on ISI on the eve of Indo-Pak talks last week.

The External Affairs minister, who had faced criticism for not defending his officer when Qureshi had made disparaging remarks against Pillai, said he had not responded as he felt it was 'unbecoming' to talk on 'those terms of comparison'.

"The atmosphere was charged. The point Qureshi was trying to make - to draw a comparison between Saeed and Pillai was most ridiculous. Saeed talks of jihad against India... Home Secretary Pillai is one of our most upright citizens...it was so ridiculous I didn't feel like responding...I felt that it was unbecoming on my part to talk in those terms...to talk in those terms of comparison," he said in an interview of a news channel.

Krishna, however, indicated that he was not pleased with Pillai's remarks against Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) on the eve of the bilateral talks in Islamabad last week.

He said Pillai's remarks were ill-timed, though it did not impact the talks.

Qureshi had equated Pillai with Saeed during a joint press conference with Krishna in Islamabad last week.

Pillai, on the basis of statement of 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks mastermind David Headley, had said that the ISI was involved from the beginning to end in the attacks and knew much more than India formerly believed the ISI had knowledge of.
